چکیده

a r t i c l e i n f o a b s t r a c t The cross sections of the 162 Er(α, γ) 166 Yb and 162 Er(α, n) 165 Yb reactions have been measured for the first time. The radiative alpha capture reaction cross section was measured from E c.m. = 16.09 MeV down to E c.m. = 11.21 MeV, close to the astrophysically relevant region (which lies between 7.8 and 11.48 MeV at 3 GK stellar temperature). The 162 Er(α, n) 165 Yb reaction was studied above the reaction threshold between E c.m. 166 Yb cross sections were measured below the (α, n) threshold at first time in this mass region opens the opportunity to study directly the α-widths required for the determination of astrophysical reaction rates. The data clearly show that compound nucleus formation in this reaction proceeds differently than previously predicted.

A reanalysis of radioisotope measurements of the Be(γ, n)Be cross-section

The Be(γ, n)Be reaction is enhanced by a near threshold 1/2 state. Contradictions between existing measurements of this reaction cross-section affect calculations of astrophysical r-process yields, dark matter detector calibrations, and the theory of the nuclear structure of Be. Select well-documented radioisotope Be(γ, n) source yield measurements have been reanalyzed, providing a set of high-...

High-Resolution Neutron Capture and Total Cross-Section Measurements, and the Astrophysical Mo(n,γ) Reaction Rate at s-process Temperatures

Abundances of Mo isotopes predicted by stellar models of the s process are, except for Mo, in good agreement with data from single grains of mainstream presolar SiC. Because the meteorite data seemed sound and no reasonable modification to stellar theory resulted in good agreement for Mo, it has been suggested that the recommended neutron capture reaction rate for this nuclide is 30% too low. T...

Photon-induced Reactions in Stars and in the Laboratory: A Critical Comparison

Photon-induced reactions during the astrophysical p(or γ-) process occur at typical temperatures of 1.8 ≤ T9 ≤ 3.3. Experimental data of (γ,n), (γ,p), or (γ,α) reactions – if available in the relevant energy region – cannot be used directly to measure astrophysical (γ,n), (γ,p), or (γ,α) reaction rates because of the thermal excitation of target nuclei at these high temperatures. Usually, stati...

THE ASTROPHYSICAL S-FACTOR OF THE REACTION Be(p,γ)B IN THE DIRECT CAPTURE MODEL

The astrophysical S-factor for the reaction Be(p,γ)B up to an energy of 2 MeV (c.m.) and the capture cross section of Li(n,γ)Li up to 1 MeV (c.m.) are calculated using the Direct Capture model (DC). Both calculations are in good agreement with experimental data.

The proton capture cross sections of the two most proton rich, stable isotopes of Cadmium have been measured for the first time in the energy range relevant to the astrophysical p–process between Ep=2.4 and 4.7MeV. The Cd(p,γ)In and Cd(p,γ)In cross sections have been determined using the activation technique. Highly enriched as well as natural Cd targets have been irradiated with proton beams f...
